Chartered by The Society of Friends of Bowring Park In aid of its Bowring Park ‘Centenary Garden’ Appeal

TO MARK THE 100TH BIRTHDAY OF Historic BOWRING PARK IN LIVERPOOL’S 800TH BIRTHDAY YEAR

Alderman William B Bowring JP presented his gift of the former ROBY HALL estate, renamed BOWRING PARK, to Liverpool 12 June 1907, in its 700th birthday, year.

Trusteeship was transferred to the Borough of Knowsley 1997.

Participate to be aboard steam train to Roby and parade to historic Bowring Park
For Re-enactment of the Presentation Ceremony 12 June 1907 which will include School Picnics for local schoolchildren in Edwardian Dress.

Eight carriages will be named after the steam locomotives which took part in the opening of Liverpool to Manchester Railway on 15th September 1830 and will be identified by coloured pennants which will match colour of passenger tickets, as in 1830: (plus buffet car):

for enthusiasts, adventurers, sightseers : Steam from Lime Street am* Roby station * Manchester* to Huddersfield and the hills around old mill towns, hopefully stop at Hebden Bridge for 2 hours * Manchester – Diesel -*Roby * Lime St 6pm-7pm

Starting from Lime St: at am / mid-day / afternoon: Steam hauled carriages from:

  1. Lime Street to Roby, then to
  2. Earlestown for return and
  3. diesel hauled from Earlestown - Roby. Alight for 5-10 minute walk (or bus) along Roby Road.

BOOKING CONDITIONS

Whilst every effort will be made to operate above services as advertised, West Coast Railway Company reserve the right to cancel or alter the service without notice, in accordance with their terms and conditions which have been accepted by Friends of Bowring Park.

West Coast Railway also reserve the right to use diesel traction in the event of high fire risk (eg drought) or steam locomotive failure.

Once a booking is made, no refund is normally given, except where the service is cancelled by West Coach Railway Company and will not exceed the ticket price.
