Fix it Festival
Saturday 7 March
11am - 3pm
The festival is a day-long event at Bowring Park to celebrate our ability to make an impact on sustainability. We will be delivering a number of workshops on the day to fix items that are broken and give tips to promote sustainability. There will also be activities where you can learn new skills.
It will be a chance to choose repairing over replacing, helping reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and giving new life to the items you love. Activities on the day will include:
Bike repair workshop
Sewing class
Pizza-making workshop
Electronics repair and IT servicing
Clothes swap shop
Guided bike rides
Mobile recycling centre
Food composting information session
All workshops and sessions will be free to take part in.
Bike repair workshop
11am - 1pm
Get your bike repaired and serviced to bring it back to ‘good as new!’. The expert mechanics will service your bike and also show you how to look after your bike in the future to keep it in top condition. Session will be led by Hype Urban Bikes.
Sewing class
11am - 1pm
Bring your old clothing back to life in this sewing class. For all skill levels, you will be taken through the repair process with as much, or as little, guidance as you need. Session will be led by Zero Fashion CIC.
Pizza-making workshop
11am - 3pm
Get involved and make your own pizza, for free! We will be joined by Baytree Cookery CIC who will be taking you through the process of making your own pizza, while also saving food from going to waste!
Electronics repair and IT servicing
11am - 3pm
Whether it’s a lamp that’s lost its light or a toaster that’s lost its crisp, bring it along to this workshop and get it repaired by an expert for free. We will also be doing IT servicing and repairs if you need to have your laptop or phone looked at.
Activities on the day will include:
Clothes swap shop
11am - 3pm
Want to get your hands on some new clothing? Why not do it the sustainable way! Bring your clothing to swap for new pieces at the clothing swap shop. Led by Zero Fashion CIC.
Guided bike rides
1pm - 3pm
Hype Urban Bikes will be doing guided bike rides around Bowring Park and the local area. Whether you want to learn how to ride a bike, want to get your confidence up or just meet new people and learn about the local area, why not join this session? All equipment will be provided (bikes and helmets). All ages welcome.
Mobile recycling centre
11am - 3pm
Knowsley Council will be joining the event with a mobile recycling centre. It is a chance for you to not only bring items to get recycled but to learn about new recycling initiatives in Knowsley.
Food composting information session

We are getting food compost bins at Bowring Park! This is your chance to learn more about them as well as sign up to join our pilot - turning food waste into compost right here at Bowring Park.
